“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” [Matthew 5:23-24]
Can clean food be served on a dirty plate? Can an effective offering be made from a dirty heart? Absolutely not! As you pray, fast or give an offering to God, it is critical that you first check your heart for anything that can be a hindrance to God’s move. Do you harbor grudges, resentment, hatred, jealousy or pain of the past? Well, these act as a roof to block your offering from reaching God. Take note, a true and effective prayer starts with the meditation of your heart; before you utter words with your mouth, the first thing you ought to do is to ensure that your heart is clean. For a million prayers made from an impure heart amounts to nothing; when you pray with an impure heart, your neighbour may hear you but God will not hear you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus cleanse my heart and rid me of all grudges, resentment, hatred, jealousy, pain of the past and all things that may hinder my offering from reaching you.
