“Simon, Simon, satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail and when you have turned back, you may strengthen your brothers. But He replied, Lord I am ready to go with you to prison and to death” [Luke 22:31-34 NIV].
In place of Simon insert your name there. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat – meaning he has asked to tempt you, get you off track and cause your faith to fail. Judging by the antecedents of your life, you can see that satan is trying to get you through your challenges. However, God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. The same Lord who prayed for Peter, is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding on your behalf that your faith may not fail and that you overcome your challenges. Remember, the scripture says, “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again…” (Proverbs 24: 16 NIV)
Therefore, pray for the strength to overcome these times because they are what the Prophets of old prophesied about, that the love of many will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13 NIV] It is the time that many will begin to look for a quick solution and compromise their faith. We only need the character of Jesus to overcome the time that we are and this can only be possible when we live in obedience to the word of God.
I pray that your faith may not fail in Jesus’ name!
